Saphire FUE Hair Transplant
Hair transplantation consists of the adaptation of grafts (hair follicles) taken from the donor area to the tissue to be transplanted. The Sapphire FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method uses a special sapphire-tipped pen for hair follicle harvesting, which is simple to apply and leaves no trace.
The Saphir FUE method is the most preferred method for hair transplantation. It can also be used for beard, moustache and eyebrow grafts. In the case of thinning hair in women, the same procedure can be applied.
The different stages of hair transplantation
Before proceeding with this operation, the patient must undergo tests to ensure that he or she is healthy enough to undergo a hair transplant. Following these examinations, a patient's hair will be photographed from all angles before the operation begins.
The doctor then studies the density of the patient's hair, determines the donor and recipient areas, as well as the quantity of hair follicles that will be removed and where the transplant will take place.
The surgeon then draws the hairline and the areas where the hair implants will be removed and grafted. Once the assessment is complete, the hair is shortened by at least one millimetre and prepared for transplantation.
A painless local anaesthetic is administered in the area where the hair follicles will be removed. The patient can watch TV or talk without feeling anything during the operation. Once the hair follicles have been removed, the hair transplant stage can begin. This operation takes an average of six to eight hours, depending on the amount of grafts.
Once the operation has been performed, a dressing is applied to the inoculated area. You should be very careful and cautious for 3 days after the operation.
After the operation
The day after the operation, the patient is examined for a full medical check-up. The day after this appointment, the patient will have his first wash at the clinic. Afterwards, the way to wash will be detailed and the shampoos and solutions to apply will be indicated.
If precautions are taken, healing and the disappearance of scabs is achieved within 10 days. A few points should be considered in this process.
-
Swimming in the sea or pool should be avoided for the first 15 days.
-
Intense physical activity, steam baths or saunas, which cause sweating, should be avoided during this healing period.
-
The grafted area should be protected from impact and certain positions such as head tilts should be avoided.
-
The patient is advised to protect themselves from the sun and to wear a hat during the first month.
Recovery process
During the recovery phase, the patient should be aware that the new grafted hair follicles will grow after 2 to 3 weeks, after which hair loss called "Shoc Loss" will occur. This is related to the natural healing processes of hair transplantation. The new hair will start to grow within a few weeks.
On average, it takes 6 to 8 months for the front part of the hair and 8 to 12 months for the hair at the back. You should wait at least three weeks before shaving the hair that is growing.
